GET THE LOOK - HAPPINESS UNLOCKED
At project, Happiness Unlocked, our clients were ready to give their kitchen a fresh start! They envisioned a modern, organic vibe and needed a layout that worked better for their lifestyle. Currently, the garage stairs (you can see them over there on the left!) led straight into the kitchen without a drop zone, so personal items often ended up scattered. Storage was also high on their list, so after discussing their style and needs, we went back to the Studio to design their dream kitchen - one that maximized flow, storage, and captured their desired aesthetic.
In the design development phase, we focused on our client’s inspiration photos, choosing materials that matched their sleek, modern vision. We went with skinny shaker cabinets paired with brass pulls for a luxurious touch and equipped them with smart storage solutions, like a charging drawer, spice organizer and an appliance garage!
For a tonal look, we kept materials within a cohesive palette, adding warmth with white oak flooring and a matching island to ground the kitchen. The real star of the show is this custom tiled hood with soft, curved edges that adds elegance and character to the space. So dreamy.

We continued the tile from the hood onto the backsplash and had it meet the quartz countertop midway down to create this thin ledge which is perfect for housing essential cooking items. Plus, it looks super elegant and elevated!
On the technical side, this new layout is the perfect example of how powerful creative space planning can be. At that first meeting, the gears were already turning in our heads on how we could rework the layout of this kitchen and once we got measurements on paper, we confirmed our master plan!
We ended up moving the kitchen forward about 5 feet, which gave us room to create a hidden hallway behind it—complete with a pantry and drop zone framed by THE most gorgeous arched French door
There is SO much extra storage and pantry items are now neatly organized instead of visually exposed on open shelving. We did however, keep a little open-shelf moment for our clients to showcase display-worthy kitchenware and decor.

The drop zone area was a game changer for how they live and an essential for a family with young kids. Now when they enter through the garage (or head out for the day), they have plenty of storage & organization options for personal items like shoes, jackets and bags, which makes their daily routines so much more enjoyable!
To create a cohesive look on the main level, we designed this custom front door to echo the design of the pantry door. The entrance now matches the modern feel of the rest of the home and lets all that gorgeous natural light in!
